Seneca Falls Library Awarded $60,000 Grant from Bonafiglia Family Foundation to Enhance Services

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SENECA FALLS, NY – April 14, 2025 – The Seneca Falls Library is thrilled to announce it has received a significant $60,000 grant from the Bonafiglia Family Foundation, to be distributed over the next three years ($20,000 annually). This vital funding will directly enhance library resources and programming for the Seneca Falls community. In the first year, the library will focus on its younger patrons, utilizing the initial funds to purchase new children’s computer workstations to improve digital literacy skills and to significantly enhance the annual Summer Reading Program with expanded activities and materials designed to combat the “summer slide” and keep children engaged with learning.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Bonafiglia Family Foundation for their belief in the library’s mission and their generous investment in our community,” said Jenny Burnett, Library Director. “This grant allows us to make immediate, tangible improvements, particularly for our youngest patrons, fostering lifelong learning and ensuring equitable access to resources.” This project is funded in part by a grant from the Bonafiglia Family Foundation. The mission of the Bonafiglia Family Foundation is to provide aid, assistance, and services for the good of the Town of Seneca Falls, neighboring communities, and the people that live there. 1 The Foundation will use its resources to foster local synergy, strengthen economic vitality, and to guide and inspire others to actively participate in positive change.

The Seneca Falls Library continues to make a noticeable impact on our community, said Judy Wentzel, Executive Director for the Bonafiglia Family Foundation. “Their style of leadership and organizational efforts are an example of what needs to transpire to do good for our local youth and residents.”

Looking ahead, the library plans to utilize the grant funding in subsequent years to address other community needs and further enhance its services. As a vital community resource providing free access to information, technology, literature, and programming, the Seneca Falls Library is committed to fostering literacy and supporting lifelong learning for all residents. Community members are encouraged to follow the library’s website and social media for updates on these enhancements and upcoming programs.
